Medical Pouches for Emergency Bags

CorrMed have designed and manufactures specialist medical pouches which are made from a high quality, clear PVC material. They are bound with black webbing and have colour coded wipe clean sides. They are designed to carry the essential items needed when dealing with a patient, and they have also been designed for easy access, allowing the user to attach the medical pouches to their belts or straps on the medical bags themselves. We believe this is an important feature as it’s vital to be able to efficiently deal with a patient without having to take up time looking for medicines and equipment. This is a pro-active design that helps enhance the performance time of doctors, nurses and first aid responders. As well as this, our medical pouches are colour coded again to help differentiate between medicines and equipment. Our medical pouches have been hygienically designed so that they can be easily wiped clean, removing unwanted and potentially contagious germs from your equipment. The PVC material can be sterilized easily and is the dominant material used for storing IV fluids, dialysis solutions as well as blood and blood products. Before PVC can be used in medical devises, it needs to be thoroughly tested. Here at CorrMed our PVC medical pouches have been  extensively tested by an independent UK testing company which have issued our medical pouches with certificates or test reports confirming that we meet industry standards of health and safety. When you’re assembling a medical kit, it can be very useful to group equipment together, like diagnostics. This makes it easier to find and deploy equipment when needed, allowing you to focus on the treating of the patient. With the use of the medical pouches strap attachment, you’re provided with more accessibility as you’ll be hands free. Not only that but you’ll be have the right equipment whilst on the go, keeping specific equipment together and saving time.

Medical Bags for GP’s

If you’re a GP you’ll know that making visits to patients is always accompanied by a medical bag full of the necessary equipment and drugs. In this article we’ll be exploring what your medical bag should contain as well as what to consider when stocking it.

Firstly, it’s important to factor in the location of the patient. For example, if you’re planning to work in a rural location that’s not very accessible to a major hospital, you may need a higher stock count of emergency drugs in your medical bag. These are often a range of medicines for acute situations on home visits.

It’s easy to forget about the medication placed within the medical bags due to them being easily hidden. It’s therefore important to put a process in place where you should check that the medication is in date and the equipment is well maintained. You should aim to do these checks at least twice a year, reviewing batch numbers, expiry dates whilst making sure you record this data .

Once you’ve selected and managed your content, it’s then a question of what attributes your medical bag should have in order to transport medicines around safely. Here is a list of good practice.

  • Lockable – Your medical bag should be lockable and never left unattended, making sure you store the bag in a cool place when not in use.
  • In the car – When in the car, you should always lock the medical bag out of sight in the vehicle boot
  • Temperatures – Most medicines should be stores between 4°C and 25° - a maximum-minimum thermometer in the bag could be useful to record extremes of temperature.
  • Always keep the bag closed when not in use – bright lights can inactivate certain drugs.

CorrMed have a specialist bag range and medical bag range specifically designed for doctors, nurses and first responders. Many of our emergency bags are made with wipe clean material for easy cleaning and tough durable fabric for longevity.

Medical Bags Contents Lists

It’s always important to keep your medical bags well-stocked so you’re readily available to deal with all incidents. Your medical bags should be locked and located in a cool, dry storage area, make sure the medical bags are out of reach of children.

Your first aid kit should always have the necessary items to help stop bleeding, close and protect cuts and help prevent infection, your first aid kit will always be developed around your unique medical needs, however your basic medical bags should include:

Foundation List:

  • Plasters ranging in size and shape
  • Sterile gauze dressings in all sizes
  • At least 2 sterile eye dressings
  • Triangular bandaged
  • Crepe rolled bandages
  • Safety pins
  • Disposable sterile gloves
  • Tweezers
  • Scissors
  • Alcohol-free cleansing wipes
  • Sticky tape
  • Thermometer
  • Skin rash cream
  • Cream and spray to relieve insect bites and stings
  • Antiseptic cream
  • Painkillers
  • Cough medicine
  • Antihistamine tablets
  • Distilled water for cleaning wounds
  • Eye wash and eye bath.

It is also recommended to keep a basic first aid manual or instruction booklet within your medical bags. Medicines within your medical bags should be checked regularly to make sure they’re within their use-by dates, and if not you should replace these

There isn’t a ‘perfect’ medical bags setup as such, however specialist attention should be payed to developing a kit for yourself and your loved ones. We recommend staying away from pre-packaged kits, however we suggest you use the above as a foundation and adapt adequately. You should make sure your kit is stocked with extra prescription medications if you have a medical condition that requires you to take additional medication.

Our specialist bag range and medical bags range cover paramedic bags, emergency grab bags and other emergency bags such as trauma bags and drug kit bags. This selection of emergency bags is specifically designed for doctors, nurses and first responders. Many of our emergency bags are made with wipe clean material for easy cleaning and tough durable fabric for longevity.
